Barbara (2021)

Barbara, a young resident of Tbilisi, Georgia, has a hearing impairment that necessitates the use of a specialized hearing aid affixed to her head. This condition has contributed to her reserved and introverted nature, particularly impacting her interactions within the school environment.

Following a conversation with Barbara, we collaboratively decided to capture a portrait that celebrates her individuality and serves as a message of empowerment to others facing similar struggles. The portrait prominently features her hearing aid, symbolizing the beauty and strength inherent in embracing one's unique attributes, whether with or without assistive devices.

To further enhance the visual representation of Barbara's story, delicate petals were incorporated into the design of her hearing aid, serving as a poignant reminder of resilience and beauty in the face of adversity.
